Designing Your Vision is our Mission.
My goal as a designer is to Design your vision, whether designing a room, a menu, a garden or arranging your photos. It's all about telling a story visually and as simply as possible. A teacher long ago told us to use the KISS principle in all design.
My logo is meant to show that I have an eye for design. with i.e. standing for Irene Elder and the concepts represents the many ideas I have when looking at a blank space.
Design has been a part of my life as far back as I can remember. My mother has told me that I loved to arrange objects from an early age, spending hours playing with paper.
At age 12, I started to help out in the family catering business. We catered Ukrainian weddings, my job being to set up the tables, sometimes for hundreds of people. By age 16, I was involved in setting the tables, decorating the head table and designing the buffet trays, as well as being a server. I loved arranging the meat, cheese and fruit trays into elaborate floral or geometrical designs and setting the look for the Buffet Tables. I was also doing some of the baking after school.
I studied design at Seneca College before the advent of computers, upgrading my skills in the late 90's to include designing on the computer using programs like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. In 2002, I took a Web Design course in Collingwood, ON at the Enterprise Technology Centre, to complement my Graphic Design skills.
My passion for food and design has lead me down a road filled with interesting places and a great career in the hospitality field. I married a chef and we operated restaurants across Ontario. I was lucky to be able to use my skills in food, as well as the skills I learned as a designer, to create interesting menus, table centre pieces, the right colour combination's, interesting and unique decor, while making sure that there was good flow and function, and providing marketing materials for the restaurants we owned or operated.
Research and Development and observing the trends, keeps things fresh and updated. I love to create new recipes by giving old ideas a new twist. Baking is my food passion and I have developed many original recipes, like my Extreme cookie. On the Graphic side, I love to do photo collages which make pictures within a picture tell a story. I also enjoy interior decorating and have been told that I have a warm welcoming style in my restaurants and homes.
I would love to use these skills to solve your design issues, no matter how large or how small.
